Why Mayweather will destroy Pacquiao
By Chris Stein: Manny Pacquiao has received a lot of attention in the past year, especially with his wins over Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto. Perhaps there is no other fighter in the sport right now who has as much positive press as Pacquiao. It’s hard to blame people for wanting to praise Pacquiao. After all, Pacquiao has beaten some of the biggest names in boxing in the past year.
However, as the saying goes, “all that glitters isn’t gold.” What I’m talking about is the fact that Paquiao has picked up his wins over fighters that are on the downside of their careers and not against a prime boxer/puncher like Floyd Mayweather Jr. We saw in the brief part of Pacquiao’s last fight with Cotto who many problems that Pacquiao can have when one of his opponents focus on boxing him rather than trying to stand and trade.
Cotto gave Pacquiao huge problems from rounds eight until the eleventh, when Cotto’s face began to break down from some of the earlier shots that he had been hit with from Pacquiao. If Cotto had only started boxing earlier in the fight instead of waiting until the 8th, he would have possibly beaten Pacquiao on points. Where Pacquiao is facing difficulties in his next fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. is in the skills department.
Mayweather is too classy, too extraordinary a fighter for a limited slugger like Pacquiao to beat. I’m not saying that Pacquiao isn’t a good fighter, because he certainly is. But let’s face it: Pacquiao doesn’t have anywhere near the same boxing ability as Mayweather and he never will. Pacquiao is going into his March 13th bout with the boxing skills equivalent of a much less advanced fighter. You could say that Pacquiao is in the elementary stages of ability compared to Mayweather.
I see nothing good coming of Pacquiao in his fight with Mayweather. He’s going to try and bum rush Mayweather like he’s doing with his other opponents in the past year, and find himself getting literally picked apart by Mayweather. Manny’s style of fighting doesn’t work against skillful fighters like Mayweather. When you take a simple slugger like Pacquiao and put them in with a boxer like Mayweather, bad things happen to that fighter and they end of up getting totally dominated. This is what I see happening with Pacquiao. He’s going to get a major boxing lesson from Mayweather and it’s going to be sad to see it happening.

I think pacman will have to fight great fight to beat mayweather. he will have to put pressure on almost non stop to win. no time for him to step back and act like he is picking up his trunks as I saw him do in JM3. he will have to throw more combo’s not just one two’s but real flurries. he will have to risk getting hit like frazier vs ali. he cannot out box mayweather. he maybe able to lure mayweather to come at him which maybe good idea if all else fails. I think mayweather likes aggressive fighters who run into his punches. he may feel akward going after a flittering counter punching hard hitter just as pacman had trouble w JM3 this will give pacman a chance to plant himself to counter unexpectedly w real bombs. he has to catch mayweather while he is in offensive mode and hurt him in the exchanges.
Your observation is below normal. I have to say Pacquiao will do the damage on Floyd. I dont see Floyd getting the old tactics to Manny just letting him throw some pot shots.Remember hatton at 10. Its not the same while fighting the guy like Manny who punches a lot. Not just punches. Unpredictable punches. If you think Floyd will gonna outsmart Pacquiao then i guess your wrong. Manny will just gonna punch all the way while Floyd will gonna stand up which is I think is wrong. Once Floyd is hurt, hes in danger. I’ve seen Floyd fights and whenever he takes some punch he feels the pain for while.
MAYWEATHER HAS DEFENSE, BUT PACQUIAO IS A NATURAL PHENOMENON LIKE A HURRICANE. DEFENSE, RUNNING, HIDING, DUCKING, TALKING, ETC. WONT SAVE HIM FROM THE FACIAL RECONSTRUCTION. FLOYD BE PREPARED TO LOOK LIKE YOUR DAD AFTER THE FIGHT. MAKE IT 8 WORLD TITLES FOR THE CONGRESSMAN.
FLOYED HASNT DESTROYED ANYONE IN HIS LIFE, A DECISION IS NOT DESTROYING, THAT MEANS THE OPPONENT LASTED 12RDS. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME FLOYD LEFT ANYBODY LOOKING LIKE DELA HOYA OR EVEN COTTO, HOW ABOUT HATTON, FLAT LIKE A BOARD. I’D LIKE TO KNOW. IF I FOUGHT A BUNCH OF GIRLS I’D BE UNDEFEATED TOO.
of course mayweather will beat pac, since coming up from 130lbs pac hasn’t fought a legit champion in the weight class. barrera and morales were washed up anyway, they had already beat each other to death. david diaz(at lightweight) c’mon. ricky hatton ( at light welterweight) c’mon he was never the same after mayweather punished him. de la hoya(at welterweight) I MEAN C’MON he was a natural middleweight and killed himself to make 147, he came of a tough fight with stevie forbes. Miguel cotto(at 145lbs) c’mon he was damaged good after the maragarito, he was hitting him with brick. pac didn’t even fight him at 147, he fought him at a catchweight at 145. cotto came off a hard fight with clottley and he was damaged, pac ducked mosley becoz he came of a superb win off margarito. and clottley was just a human punching bag.
How little you people know about boxing. If you watched Pacquiao fight Clottey tonight. There is no way he wins against Mayweather. How can you beat the best defense ever, if you can’t get through Clottey’s.
Manny equals humility, he is a humble man, soft spoken, loved by everybody. Not only in his native land but I may say throughout the world. He has shown greatness before and after the game. He is a man that no money can buy but who for the sake of the sports, his fans and his country will stand, boxes , and survives. He made boxing history so exciting that even Mayweather himself would agree. His character may be tainted by continious bombardment of accusations by his detractors but the court of law will revive him eventually.
At Boxing over UFC, Mayweather’s greatness will soon be over if a guy like you would keep on believing that this is all about building up a particular boxer because of his race and origin, think again, for you’re making a lot of trouble in America and in the boxing world making such a biased comments. Remember that Manny is stepping through his opponents in incredible passion that made him greater than anybody in his level. Having affected by this achievements, sompe people would resort to a different kind of game only to tarnish his reputations. I suggest the only possible way that you can do that is to defeat him inside the ring or by knocking him out. Mayweather it’s your turn to try and show your greatness, but wait after the court of law has decided your case. If I were Manny I would choose the 8th belt for his final achievements and retire.
Mayweather is gonna dominate Pacman. The only reason why you hear these ignorant people who know absolutley nothing about boxing saying that Pacman will beat Mayweather is: 1) They belive the media that Pacman is so great and do not realize that Pacman is being created into being a great Hall Of Fame boxer. What I mean by created is: Boxing is looking for someone to build up to try and save boxing. They do not want Floyd as that guy, so they’ll build Pacman up, hype him up, say he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. Floyd will make pacman look worse than what he did to JMM. The number two reason is 2)There’s a lot of “Southerners” and “Mid- Westerners” who just cant stand the fact that a trash-talking, arrogant, big ego having, money wasting, Black man is at the top of the sport. That just cannot happen, atleast in their eyes… To prove my point furthermore, why is that so many people here in the USA want to see Floyd lose?? Why does Manny have all of a sudden so many American fans??? Do you think in Pac’s hometown people are wanting him to lose?? No. Do you think Mayweather has a big fan base in the Phillipines rooting for him to win over Pac?? Absolutley not. So why vice-versa here in the USA??? See a couple sentences above about the “Southerners” and Mid-Westerners”, and there you have it.
Let’s hope Mayweather can finally shut Pacquiao and Roach (the most arrogant “humble guy” out there) up.
I agree to eustaquio,. I remember one of Manny’s interview where he was saying that he likes to fight those who talks a lot. Mayweather cannot be exempted from this, so as his fans like Chris Stein. So keep those trash talks coming, there’s gonna be a sweet return during and after the Pacman and Mayweather fight. =)
wish you we’re right come march 13… however, the trash talks and insulting of the mayweathers to pacquiao might serve as a motivating factor for him to train hard, i.e., he will eat alive li’l floyd during fight time…
better for floyd to train how to run because his defense will not work against the raging fury of the pacman…
