By Harold Kupelle The formal announcement of the March 13th of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao bout could come as early as January 5th or 6th, says trainer Freddie Roach. He says the bout will likely take place in Las Vegas, even though Dallas Cowboy owner Jerry Jones has been making a strong effort to get the fight to take place in Dallas Cowboy Stadium, in Texas. Roach talks Mayweather-Pacquiao
By Chris Stein: Freddie Roach, the trainer for Manny Pacquiao, doesn’t believe that the March 13th bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will be taking place in Texas. In an article with the Examiner, Roach said “No way Mayweather is going to Texas. It is a Vegas fight the way I see it. Texas has had some bad decisions.” Roach is probably talking about the first fight between Juan Diaz and Paulie Malignaggi, a fight in which Diaz, fighting in front of his home crowd, won a 12 round decision over Malignaggi. Mayweather the early betting favorite to beat Pacquiao
By Manuel Perez: I’d like to thank this excellent site for employing me. Now as for the Manny Pacquiao vs. the Floyd Mayweather Jr., bout, it looks like the Las Vegas and Atlantic City bettors are putting their good money on Mayweather to beat World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Pacquiao on March 13th. Mayweather is a slight favorite at this point to beat Pacquiao, but that will likely change even more in Mayweather’s favor as the bout gets near, especially when Mayweather and Pacquiao are both seen in training. Mayweather always looked great in his training camps. I can’t say the same thing about Pacquiao. He sometimes has problems with sparring partners. Read the rest of this entry »
Mayweather & Pacquiao Prefer Las Vegas – News
By Harold Kupelle According to Inside Sports, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao both prefer their upcoming March 13th fight take place in Las Vegas, Nevada rather than Dallas, Texas. It’s hard not to see why. There”s a lot more things to do in Vegas compared to Arlington, Texas, for a fighter and his entourages. It doesn’t matter how many backsides you can squeeze into seats in the Dallas Cowboy stadium, it’s still more interesting for the fighters to be in Vegas than it does in Arlington. Even though it might be better off, monetary speaking, if the fight takes place in the Dallas Cowboy stadium due to the massive amounts of people that could be squeezed into the stadium. Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: A look at Manny’s accomplishments in 2009
By Manuel Perez: The boxing world has gone plumb crazy over WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao because of his wins in 2009 against Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto. I wish that meant anything as Pacquiao approaches his bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr, but I can’t say it does. It means about as much as getting a prize out of a box of Crackerjacks and thinking that will help in a fight against Mayweather. Read the rest of this entry »
Mayweather-Pacquiao could be finalized this week – News
By Chris Stein: According to news sources, the Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. bout could be finalized this week for their March 13th bout. However, there’s still no word at this time where the location of the fight will be taking place. Right now, it’s still up in the air with MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the Dallas Cowboy stadium, in Texas as the leading choices for the fight. The Dallas option is especially appealing because of their $25 million bid to land the fight. However, the MGM Grand is making a huge bid of it’s own, throwing out a $30 million offer for the fight. It will be great to have the fight finalized, along with a set location for the historic mega boxing fight, so that the two fighters can began their training knowing everything is set in place. Pacquiao vs. Mayweather: What will Manny’s fans do when he loses?
By Manuel Perez: Oh, I really hate to see when huge massive amounts of boxing fans put their hopes, dreams and egos on the talents of one fighter. It’s a bad habit, because those same fighters are only human and not infallible. Manny Pacquiao, a very popular fighter, has legions of lovesick boxing fans in his native Phillipines. These same fans love him without question in many cases and follow his every move. But I don’t know that this is a good thing. Read the rest of this entry »
Will Pacquaio have a Plan B if things go wrong against Mayweather?
By Manuel Perez: I really don’t think that trainer Freddie Roach will have Manny Pacquiao adequately prepared for Floyd Mayweather on March 13th. Specifically, I’m talking about a plan ‘B’ for what to do when things suddenly start to turn sour for the Filipino star. Pacquiao has gotten used to fighting slower opponents in the past few years, ones that he’s been able to get away with all kinds of things against. Read the rest of this entry »
Mayweather isn’t Hatton, De La Hoya, Cotto or Diaz
By Chris Stein: The reason why Manny Pacquiao will lose his March 13th bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr. is easy to explain. It essentially boils down to this: Mayweather isn’t Ricky Hatton, David Diaz, Oscar De La Hoya or Miguel Cotto. In other words, Mayweather isn’t one the hand picked opponents that Pacquiao has fought in the past year. Read the rest of this entry »
Will Mayweather-Pacquiao live up to the hype?
By Chris Stein: I can’t help thinking that the Floyd Mayweathern Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao bout may fail to live up the great deal of hype that has been thus far generated about it. It’s not surprising if it doesn’t, really, because few of Pacquiao’s recent bouts have been all that exciting since his controversial win over Juan Manuel Marquez last year.
